The off-duty Chicago police officer who shot and killed himself Monday after shooting his two children was identified this morning as Dannie Marchan, 29.
In addition, his young daughter who died was identified by the Cook County medical examiner's office as Alizay Marchan, 7.
Police arrived Monday morning at Marchan's home in the 2700 block of West Pope John Paul II Drive.
There, the four-year department veteran was found dead with an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head, authorities said. His son and daughter lay in another room of the Southwest Side home, both shot.
The girl later died at Mt. Sinai Hospital of a gunshot wound in the head, the medical examiner's office said. Marchan's 9-year-old son was last reported in critical condition.
Police believe the shooting was domestic-related.

O God, whose beloved Son did take little children into his arms and bless them: Give us grace, we beseech thee, to entrust this child Alizay to thy never-failing care and love, and bring us all to thy heavenly kingdom; through the same thy Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
