String of holdups may be linked

The weekend robbery of a liquor store in Schaumburg may be linked to a series of holdups at convenience stores and gas stations, police said Tuesday.

An armed man, whose face was partially covered, walked into a store in the 2300 block of Bode Road about 12:50 a.m. Sunday and demanded money, Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said. After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the gunman  ran away, he said.

Nebl said a clerk at the store told police the man looked similar to a sketch of a suspect wanted for armed robberies at seven gas stations and convenience stores since July 17.

"We're investigating to see if it's possibly related," Nebl said.

Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
