A person was struck by a Blue Line train at the Washington station during Friday evening rush hour, CTA and police officials said.
The incident occurred at 5:15 p.m. Friday, said CTA spokeswoman Katelyn Thrall. Officials temporarily shut down the northbound side of the Blue Line through the Clark, Lake and LaSalle stations, but all service was restored by 5:55 p.m., Thrall said.
"Someone either fell or jumped down on the tracks," said Chicago Police Officer John Mirabelli.
Firefighters called to the scene had to extract the person from under the train, said Kevin MacGregor, a Fire Department spokesman. The person suffered trauma and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, he said.
