Four workers were hurt this morning when a roof collapsed on Chicago's West Side, fire officials said.
The men were working on the roof of a 2½-story frame building in the 3600 block of West Chicago Avenue around 10:20 a.m. when the roof partially caved in, officials said.
Two men were taken to Norwegian-American Hospital and two others to St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital Center. They were reported in fair condition, and officials said their injuries did not appear life-threatening.
Bill McCaffrey, a spokesman for the city's Department of Buildings, said there would be a partial demolition of the structure, which houses a storefront church and a residential unit on the second floor.
There were no current work permits issued for roof work, but he said it was unclear whether the work being done required a permit.
