A Rosemont man was indicted Tuesday on charges that he sexually abused two young girls for years while they were foster children in his mother's care.
Christopher Cooper, 26, of the 6100 block of Hawthorne Street was charged with four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. The girls are now 15 and 17. The indictment was announced Tuesday in the Rolling Meadows branch of Cook County Circuit Court.
Cooper was charged after the teens came forward this year and alleged that he began assaulting them when they were 5 and continued the abuse until they were 13, authorities said. Cooper was arrested in August.
His mother, Patricia Cooper, 67, of the same address, was charged with permitting sexual abuse of children. She also was arrested last month.
The girls lived in Patricia Cooper's home. The prominent child-welfare advocate has served as a foster parent for two decades.
Christopher Cooper is being held without bail. Patricia Cooper is free on $40,000 bail.
