Weekend Blue Line closings announced

CTA Blue Line service through three Northwest Side stations will be shut down from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Monday for slow-zone construction work, according to a statement by the agency Thursday.

The Jefferson Park, Montrose and Irving Park Stations will be affected. Shuttles will run in both directions to and from each station, the statement said.

The Montrose and Irving Park Stations do not have elevators, so riders going southeast who need an elevator to access the train should take the shuttle bus to the accessible Logan Square Station, the statement said. The CTA recommends riders going northwest who need an elevator should exit at Logan Square and take the shuttle bus to Jefferson Park.

The CTA closed the same stretch of the Blue Line in late August for construction work.
