Evanston health officials are reporting a human case of the West Nile virus.
The suburb's Department of Health and Human Services confirmed the case on Tuesday.
At least two other people in Illinois have become sickened by the virus this summer. Last year 101 human cases of the virus, including four deaths, were reported in Illinois.
West Nile is transmitted by mosquitoes that pick up the infection from birds. Symptoms include body aches, fever and headache.
Health officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health suggest avoiding mosquito bites by not going outside during hours when mosquitoes are most active.
Officials also suggest wearing insect repellant and making sure doors and windows are screened.
