A Bruegger’s Bagels shop opened recently at 2146 N. Federal Highway and owner Avi Stern said the restaurant differs form traditional bagel joints on a number of levels.

“We boil our bagels before baking in true New York fashion, and I believe we are the only place around here that does that,” Stern said.

Bruegger’s features specialty cream cheeses, signature soups, wraps, a self-serve salad bar and a wide array of coffees, he said.

“There are close to 280 (Bruegger’s) locations across the country, and there are plans to open more in South Florida, but we are the first,” Stern said.
