Security gets a boost at Town Center at Boca Raton

The Town Center at Boca Raton mall recently was equipped with a closed circuit television system and command post.

The new security system will be unveiled at a 9 a.m. ceremony Thursday, Oct. 2 at the mall's Terrace at Town Center wing. In addition, the ceremony also will include the ribbon-cutting for the Boca Raton Police Department's new substation at Town Center.

The changes follow last year's discovery of a mother and daughter who had been killed and left inside the woman's vehicle in a mall parking lot. No suspect has been found in the case.

The 1,700-square-foot police substation, located at the Terrace at Town Center, will serve as the operational base for officers patrolling the mall and will be staffed by civilian volunteers and community service officers.
