Battle of the Bands in Boca March 30

The final four bands in the Battle of the Bands Palm Beach County 2012 will compete for the high school and middle school top spot at 7 p.m. Friday.
The event is sponsored by the Swing and Jazz Preservation Society and will be held at the Spanish River Performing Arts Center, 2400 Yamato Road, Boca Raton.
The four finalists are Don Estridge High Tech Middle School vs. Omni Middle School and Park Vista High School vs. Dreyfoos School for the Arts.
The judges will be Michael Fagien, publisher of JAZZIZ Magazine; Dr. Sam Lussier, professional musician and music educator, and Jerry Fischer, musician and musical producer. Winners will be presented by Palm Beach County School Board Chairman Frank Barbieri Jr., assisted by School Board member Karen Brill.

At each stage of the competition, participating schools received donations from the Society for their respective music programs. The total monies donated will be $22,800. The program was done in cooperation with District 14 of the Bandmaster’s Association and was open to all Palm Beach County public schools.
