A banner year for FAU afterall

Look for 18 banners on Glades Road as Florida Atlantic University was able to sidestep the city’s sign ordinance at the City Council meeting Tuesday.
The university will place the banners starting east of the eastern entrance after the banner resolution passed by a 5-0 vote April 24.
The approval will last for three years and included a change stipulating that three banner styles were prototypes, not necessarily “the” banners, said deputy city manager George S. Brown. A city manager will have to sign off on the final banner styles.
“The purpose is to balance the city sign ordinance and the competing public interest,” Brown told the council.
