Swearing ins and best intentions

Best intentions are what the two incumbent City Council members are willing to say on the record as Anthony Majhess and Constance Scott were sworn-in April 2 in council chambers.
Council’s organizational meeting chose Susan Haynie as deputy mayor again, although Majhess said before the meeting as the top vote getter he wanted the post. The subject never came up during the meeting. Scott regained her role as Community Redevelopment Agency chairwoman for a fourth term, with Majhess as the vice chairman. He thinks Scott is “doing a fine job,” he said by phone April 1.
Council appointments to the League of Cities and Florida Metropolitan Planning Organization stayed the same where Haynie is vice chairwoman, an MPO board appointment, she noted via email.
Scott and Majhess said they’re putting the past behind them after the contentious March 13 Municipal Election. The fact that all four council members, including Mike Mullaugh and Mayor Susan Whelchel, endorsed Majhess’ opponent Frank Chapman won’t matter going forward, Scott and Majhess said on the record.
