What's going on out front at Lynn University?
If you’re driving by Lynn University on that busy stretch of Military Trail, it’s hard not to notice all the construction activity out front.
You may think it’s for the Presidential Debate that Lynn is hosting Oct. 22, but actually that’s just the deadline for the school to have both entrances finished.
“The renovation and upgrade of the university’s main entrance on Military Trail will include a traffic light and five lanes for better traffic flow,” the university said in a statement.
Three oak trees were relocated over winter break, and 15 trees were removed. Boca Raton insisted on 62 new mature trees to replace every inch of tree trunk removed. The new trees include 42 pine trees ranging from 12 to 16 feet, 13 live oaks at 18 feet and seven bald cypress trees 8 to 12 feet.
“Not only will these trees add to the beauty of Lynn’s campus, but they will also provide shade along many of our walkways and homes to many of the birds and wildlife that call the university home,” the university said in a statement.
Robert Sheetz of Boca Raton pledged $1 million to make Lynn’s new front entrance a reality, the university said.
