How did you get involved with the JCC?
“I have been volunteering all my life and active in the Jewish community one way or another. I am very interested in the Jewish community and this luncheon is part of Jewish Book Month.”
Who are Steve and Cokie Roberts, the special guests for the lunch?
“They are very popular media figures. The book they have written concerns an interfaith family over Passover and how they have managed to be successful in raising their family to respect the wishes of both religions.”
What else will they bring to the event?
“I expect people will ask questions about politics as well with the Republican primary in New Hampshire a couple days before the luncheon. They cover politics, they cover news, they cover everything.”
How did the book event come about?
“It has been successful over the last couple years. We are having a brunch and as of now, 250 people are set to attend. We are not finished yet, it is a major event for us. It is very elegant, it starts at around 11 a.m. and runs to about 2 p.m.”
What else does the JCC have planned for the coming year?
“The ACE program is adult continuing education, which is a fantastic program. People come in and provide lectures at a high level, mainly retired professors or those in the business world. People come in and the program is five days a week for four hours a day; over 400 people registered.”
You love to travel. Where are some of your favorite places to go?
“I love to go to Israel, been there many times. I like to go off the beaten path, not London, Paris or Rome. Been to China, Africa, Australia and as many countries in the Middle East when you could go there.”
