Margate Names Officer of the Year

The city of Margate and the Margate Police Department chose Detective Alain Banatte as the 2011 Office of the Year in Margate. He also received Officer of the Month Award for March 2011 and the Officer of the Month Award for December 2011.

The awards were for his instrumental part in the arrest of six people who were involved in a drug and prostitution ring. He was also involved in the arrest and recovery of a stolen vehicle from a local car dealership. He was chosen as the Officer of the Year for 2011 because of the combined recognition awards in 2011 and the exceptional job he is doing.

Det. Banatte was hired to the department in September 2006 and graduated from the police academy in March 2007. He was a road patrol officer for two years before he chose to be a member of the Selective Enforcement Team (SET) in May 2009. He was then promoted to detective in the Special Operations Division (SOD) in May 2010, where he is currently assigned.
