Springs Commission to interview candidates on April 15

Candidates running for commissioner in the November elections. and at least one former city official. are in the fray to fill two Coral Springs City Commission seats that have been temporarily left vacant by the suspension of incumbents Vince Boccard and Tom Powers.

Among those applying for the seats are Ted Mena, Larry Vignola, Mark Gendal, Bruce Weinberg, and Max Lashin. While Mena is a former city commissioner, Vignola, Gendal, and Weinberg are running for commission in the November election. Lashin is running for Mayor. Rhon Ernest Jones, former mayor, is likely to apply.

At a special meeting last week, the City Commission discussed the process for filling the vacancies in Commission Seat 2, which was occupied by Boccard, and Commission Seat 5, Powers’ seat. Interested parties can apply before noon on April 12; applicants must have been city residents for at least six months. The commission will interview applicants at 9 a.m. on April 15 at City Hall.
