Mother-daughter tea registration open

Registration is open for Cooper City's Mother Daughter Tea, set for 11 a.m. May 10 at the Community Center.

For $10 per person, Cooper City moms and their daughters age 4 and up can celebrate their bond in their best party dresses while enjoying a variety of teas, coffee, punch, sandwiches and sweet treats. Entertainment and fun activities will also be offered.

To register, visit the Community Center, 9000 SW 50th Place. Proof of residency is required.

Davie mayor welcoming dignitaries from the Bahamas

Davie Mayor Judy Paul will welcome dignitaries from the Bahamas as they visit Town Hall this week.

Led by Cynthia “Mother” Pratt, co-chairwoman of the Urban Renewal Commission (and former deputy prime minister of the Bahamas), they are visiting to learn more about how the Boys & Girls Club can work for them. Following the Town Hall visit, the group will tour the Rick and Rita Case Boys & Girls Club in Davie

Cooper City hosts twilight egg hunt

Tweens should bring flashlights and a sense of adventure for Cooper City's Tween Twilight Egg Hunt.

The free event is open to all Cooper City middle school students. They can look for the hidden eggs on Thursday, April 17 from 7-9 p.m. at the Pool and Tennis Center, 11600 Stonebridge Parkway.

There is no charge for the evening of fun, but participants must register by calling the Recreation Department at 954-434-4300, ext. 233.

Davie university hosting grand opening of Flight Deck Pub

The grand opening of the newly renovated Nova Southeastern University Flight Deck Pub will be from 11 a.m.-midnight Friday, April 4 on its campus, 3301 College Ave. in Davie.

The facility features indoor and outdoor bars, 17 wide-screen TVs, six outdoor cabanas, plush lounge furniture, a multipurpose space and more.

It will also host public and private events and activities throughout the year. The original Flight Deck was established in 1996 on the second floor of the Rosenthal Student Center (before the building renovation) and later moved to its current location with the opening of the Don Taft University Center in 2006.

NSU hosted a contest to give students a chance to create the Flight Deck Pub logo. Miguel Hernandez won the contest and was deemed the designer. For more information, visit www.nova.edu/flightdeck/.

Davie radio personality to be part of unique charity event

Local radio personality and Davie resident Mindy Lang, from the Magic 102.7 morning show, will be participating in Over the Edge for Gilda's on Saturday, April 5.
