Davie celebrating Earth Day this week

townofdavie.jpg

Davie officials are encouraging residents to participate in Earth Day activities that will focus on education, gardening and urban forestry.

Earth Day is an annual event (April 22) celebrated worldwide to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

This year, the town is focused on promoting environmental education by hosting programs for hundreds of students who will attend events at its facilities on April 23, 24 and 25, where they will learn about gardening and the importance of forestry in our community.

Students will plant flowers, shrubs, trees and work in the nursery, and then they will mulch and water plants. These activities will promote civic participation and help develop a sense of environmental responsibility among students and improve environmental education.
