The wacky world of Dr. Seuss comes alive in the new "Oh, Seuss! Off to Great Places" exhibit at the Young At Art Children's Museum, 11584 W. State Road 84 in Davie.

Children can enjoy famed characters Horton and the Cat in the Hat in a world filled with fun activities that capture their imaginations. Davie works to improve Web site

-------------------------------- laptop.gif

Over the past few months, Davie has made a number of upgrades to its Web site to better serve residents.

In August, the city unveiled its Citizen Support Center. A link on the front of the site titled Talk to Us brings residents to the Citizen Support Center, which includes four sections: Find Answers, Make a Request, Ask A Question and My Citizen Action Center.

The addition to the site also makes it easier for the town to get residents' issues resolved and address any concerns they may have in a timely and efficient manner.

Earlier this month, the town rolled out Davie TV On-line. The new feature gives residents the opportunity to watch Town Council meetings live streamed on the site. If someone missed a meeting or just wants to view a particular item on the agenda, they can click on the Video on Demand link for the archival material.

In addition, residents can view informative videos about the town via Video on Demand.

To take advantage of any of these features, visit www.davie-fl.gov.

Davie gets in the Halloween spirit

Davie hosted several activities for the Halloween season last weekend.

- Those looking to celebrate the holiday with their pets enjoyed the first-ever Dog Days of Davie Saturday at the Old Davie School Historical Museum.

The event was a joint effort with the Humane Society of Broward County and featured a host of activities for humans and animals alike. The Humane Society brought its mobile adoption unit, hoping to find good homes for deserving animals, as well as providing low-cost microchipping for pets.

One of the main attractions is the Creature Feature Howl-O-Ween Costume Contest, and the Davie Police Department's K9 unit also was on hand.

"We're trying to bring a fun event out here and make it a yearly tradition," said Patti Koch, Old Davie School's executive director.

- Another Halloween event was Davieween, which featured the South Florida Trail Riders' horse costume contest and parade.

The event, which included bounce houses, a climbing wall, spooky music with DJ Jeff and a petting farm, took place Sunday at Pine Island Park.

There also were Halloween games, hayrides, pumpkin decorating and face painting.
