“The festival will offer a great chance for people to have an escape from financial worries and enjoy some terrific national and local blues acts.”

The festival will run 5-11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, with performances by The Delta Guitar Slingers featuring Michael Burks, Sherman Robertson and Carl Weathersby.

From noon-11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, acts such as Southern rocker Anthony Gomes and Shepherd, who has had four albums reach No. 1 on the Billboard blues chart, take the stage.

The festival concludes noon-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, with performances including Janiva Magness, a two-time winner of the Blues Music Award for Contemporary Female Artist of the Year.

The festival also will showcase the musical talents of students from two local area high schools. The University School Blues Band and Hialeah Senior High School Blues Band will open the festival on Friday evening with performances on the main stage.

The event will have two main stages outdoors on the library grounds and performances at the Flight Deck on the first floor of NSU’s University Center, next to the library.
