Recess Monkey swinging into Davie this weekend

In celebration of National Library Card Sign-up Month, Nova Southeastern University’s Alvin Sherman Library, 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Blvd. in Davie, will host a free concert featuring Recess Monkey at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1.

The acclaimed children's indie music band hails from Seattle. Each Alvin Sherman Library card holder can get a ticket at the library's public services desk. Tickets must be picked up by 1 p.m. for entry to the show, set for the Miniaci Performing Arts Center. Pre-show activities and giveaways will start at 1 p.m.

The band is composed of three elementary school teachers who have a bit of a Beatles fixation and have recorded tracks about birthday parties, pets and monsters under the bed.

Call 954-262-5477 for more information. Need a library card? Apply online or visit the circulation desk.
