Harvest Festival and scarecrow competition set in Davie

Flamingo Gardens, 3750 S. Flamingo Road in Davie, is kicking off the season with its Harvest Festival and fourth annual Great Scarecrow competition from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

Festivities will include hayrides, a pumpkin patch, bounce house, fall market, scavenger hunt, crafts and more. Scarecrows will take over the Boo-tanical Gardens, where residents can enter their own imaginative interpretation of the classic scarecrow or vote for their favorite to win the People's Choice award. Judging takes place at noon, and winners will be announced at 2 p.m.
