Broward College hosting Black History Month events in Davie

Broward College will celebrate Black History Month with a series of events throughout February. The events are free and open to the public.

Events taking place at the Central Campus, 3501 SW Davie Road in Davie, include:

Spoken Word with Jon Goode
Wednesday, Feb. 5, 4-6 p.m.
Bailey Hall, Building 4
Poet and Emmy Award-nominated writer Jon Goode will make entertaining and poignant observations on everyday life issues, from nostalgic childhood memories to dealing with cancer. For more information, call 954-201-6263.

Black is Beautiful with Stan Pearson
Wednesday, Feb. 19, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Building 17, Room 425
Motivational speaker Stan Pearson will host a keynote lecture for students, staff and community members. For more information, call 954-201-6263.

Nelson Mandela Tribute Festival
Wednesday, Feb. 26, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Student Life, Building 19
The campus will commemorate the legacy of Mandela with a festival featuring a timeline of his life, free food and music. African American-owned companies are invited to showcase their businesses on campus. For more information, call Omoy Watson at 954-201-4881.
