Property Appraiser's Deputy Offers Exemption Assistance At Deerfield City Hall

Residents seeking a 2012 property tax exemption have until September 18 to apply for Portability or a Homestead Exemption, Widow/Widower Exemption or Disability Exemption.

Deerfield Beach residents who act on May 15, however, can get assistance from the Broward County Property Appraiser's Office.

That's because, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lori Parrish will have a deputy from her office to help residents file for exemptions and to answer property tax questions in city hall. It's part of office's outreach program, an initiative dedicated to providing convenient and accessible service to county residents. All outreach events are open to the public, and this one is at the Deerfield Beach City Commission chambers, 150 N.E. Second Ave.

Applicants should bring:
* a current Florida driver license or Florida identification card;
* a current voter registration card, or current declaration of domicile and
* non-U.S. citizens must also bring proof of permanent residency.
