City invites kids to test-drive costumes at pre-Halloween Parties
Mark off October 24th and 25th for celebrating Halloween in Deerfield Beach. On the 24th, it’s the Family Halloween Hoe-Down at villages of Hillsboro Park, followed at Westside Park a day later with Halloween Festivities.
On the first night from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the park at 4111 N.W. Sixth St. erupts with pumpkins and pies and a petting zoo. Organizers pledge a costume contest, pie eating and pumpkin carving contests and a petting zoo – all for free. For a small fee, participants can add a hayride, a pumpkin patch and refreshments. For information, call 954-480-4494.
Miss the action on Thursday and a day later, the festivities move to Westside Park. There, the city’s parks and recreation department is hosting completely free Halloween activities from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. IN addition to the Magical Moments stage show and a costume contest, there is a haystack candy find, arts and crafts, balloon twisters, a photo booth and music by Party Nation. For information, call 954-480-4481.
