Lighthouse Point commissoners award storm water project

Lighthouse Point Commissioner Mike Long objected to a 20 percent engineering fee before the city awarded a $500,000 contract to Winningham and Fradley for a storm water project in the marina area.

"This company was selected on the basis of qualifications, not on low price,” City Administrator John Lavisky explained.

Lavisky said the construction phase of the project would cost $4,200 per month, which comes out to six hours per week for four weeks, billed at $175 per hour.

Beyond that, the engineering phase - designing and bidding the project, then monitoring its progress - would cost another $96,000.
