Sailboat storage spaces available from the city starting Oct. 1

Sixty storage spaces for sailboats at the north end of the Municipal Beach will be available for lease starting Wednesday, Oct. 1.

The cost of a permit is $213, including taxes. That could raise $12,780 for the city if all 60 spots are leased.

Before applying for a permit, applicants must have their vessels inspected by Delray Beach Ocean Rescue Superintendent Bob Taylor.

“Inspection includes rigging, trampoline, and hull all in working order and to make sure the boat is in “sailable” condition,” Taylor said.

Existing permit holders can renew their permits at the Delray Beach Community Center, 50 NW First Ave. Remaining permits will be sold starting Monday, Nov. 10.

Each boat on the beach must have a properly attached valid permit by Monday, Dec. 1, or the boat will be removed from the beach at the owner’s expense.

Permit applicants must show proof of boat ownership with a bill of sale when applying for a permit. The limit is one permit per person, per family. Residency cards also are needed and can be obtained from the city clerk's office for $10.

For information e-mail Bob Taylor at taylorb@ci.delray-beach.fl.us or call 561-243-7352.
