City offers swimming lessons for all ages
The city of Delray Beach is offering swimming lessons to all older than 5 at two locations. Starting on Dec. 9, the Delray Beach Parks & Recreation Department will be teaching individual instructional swim lessons affiliated with the American Red Cross.
“All swim instructors are American Red Cross certified to provide students with quality instructional swim lessons. Participants will learn how to swim in a one-on-one instructional setting with positive reinforcement. This will allow the instructor to encourage students while supporting them on swim skills such as back float, front crawl, back crawl, reaching for a submerged object and establishing a breathing pattern. As the student progresses they will learn skills that will last a life time,” Aquatics Operations Supervisor Nina Salomon said.
Pompey Park Pool, 1101 NW Second St. and Delray Swim & Tennis Club, 2350 Jaeger Drive offer classes to everyone starting at age 5. Sessions run in December, January and February. The swim lesson fee for each student is $40 for four, 20-minute classes.
For more information about the above classes, call Nina Salomon at 561-243-7358.
