Constitutional tax collector informs of outsource for TPP collections
Outside provider Revenue Recovery Solutions Inc., will provide services to Anne Gannon's Constitutional Tax Collector agencies. The focus will be on tangible personal property tax collections and Gannon said that the company does not receive any tax dollars for payment. However, the company will earn revenue through adding a 20 percent fee of the total delinquent taxes dues.
"I want to make sure all Palm Beach County businesses are aware that delinquent Tangible Personal Property Tax (TPP) collections will be managed by an outside provider effective April 1, 2012," Gannon said.
The fee will be paid by the delinquent taxpayer.
"Any business with delinquent TPP taxes will want to pay off delinquents before close of business Friday, March 30 to avoid the 20 percent collection fee. The decision to outsource TPP taxes was based on the likelihood that Florida voters will approve a proposed Constitutional Amendment, which increases the current exemption for TPP from $25,000 to $50,000," Gannon said.
According to Gannon, the 2012 state Legislature passed a joint resolution adding this proposed constitutional amendment to November’s ballot.
"Should the proposed amendment pass, it will mean a reduction in the number of businesses required to pay TPP. That translates into a reduction in revenue and staff for our agency," Gannon added.
"Our agency is implementing cost savings in anticipation of the amendment’s passage."
The Constitutional Tax Collector authority for the provider services is Florida Statute, Chapter 197.332.
