Delray Medical Center plans cell phone recycling event with Stericycle

Delray Beach Medical Center’s recycling vendor Stericycle is having a cell phone recycling day in a partnership with the hospital and their current Earth Day initiatives.

The Stericycle cell phone recycling event is from 8 a.m. through 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, in the cafeteria at the Delray Medical Center, 5352 Linton Blvd.

Delray Medical center public relations manager Ryan Leiber said that Stericycle plans to give out a free gift to anyone who turns in an old recycled cell phone.

Leiber also said that all residents, patients and staff that plan to participate in the event need to remember is to remove their SIM cards.

Stericycle is a Lake Forest, Ill.-based company that provides healthcare medical waste disposal services, bloodborne pathogen training and biomedical waste services.

Leiber said the hospital is focused on earth friendly, earth conscience projects. This is the first year the partnership between the Delray Medical Center and Stericycle focused solely on old cell phone recycling.

He said the hospital wanted to think outside of the box of just newspapers and aluminum bottle recycling.
