State Sen. Sachs introduces plan for Lantana hospital campus site during disaster preparedness meeting

State Sen. Maria Sachs shared her idea to convert part of a 142-acre Lantana tuberculosis hospital campus into a disaster preparedness hub during the monthly meeting of a local disaster preparedness group meeting.

The site is at A.G. Holley Hospital, 1199 Lantana Road.

The Blue Ribbon Disaster Preparedness Committee met April 24 at Lakes of Delray for more than two hours this afternoon.

Matthew Campbell from the Pathfinders Task Force and Jennifer Beckham, the director of the Palm Beach County Disaster Recovery Coalition, were the guest speakers.

Members of the committee knew nothing of Sachs' plan before the meeting; half of the 14 members seemed in favor of looking into the matter and about half did not.
