Hallandale announces demolition of old City Hall

Hallandale Beach announced this week that it will raze its former City Hall location. The building, at 308 S. Dixie Highway, was vacated in March 1997. The demolition will make way for the headquarters for international eyewear giant Aspex Eyewear.

Crews began the demolition process this week. Officials expect the process to take about 30 days and cost about $200,000. The building was originally constructed in 1968 and has changed hands twice since the city vacated.

According to a release from the city, no formal plans have been submitted to the city regarding Aspex Eyewear's relocation to the property.
