Hollywood warns residents of demolition

A 12-story building on Polk Street in Hollywood is slated to be demolished. The Town House Apartment building at 1776 Polk St. will be razed on Saturday, Aug. 2 to make way for a new project.

Gold Coast Florida Regional Center LLC has scheduled the demolition for 11 a.m. The new mixed-use project that will be built in its place will include 397 luxury apartments, a hotel and several shops.

The city is asking residents and motorists to seek an alternate route on the demolition day. For more information, call 954-448-7953.

Hollywood chamber to host bowling night

Residents can join the Greater Hollywood Chamber of Commerce for Bowling Night on Friday, Aug. 1. The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sparez, 5325 S. University Drive in Davie.

Bowling Night is $20 per person. Tickets include three hours of bowling, shoe rental and pizza.

Dania to host monthly health screenings

Dania Beach will offer free health screenings on Wednesday, July 30.

The screenings, which feature HIV, blood pressure and cholesterol tests, are offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the last Wednesday of every month at C.W. Thomas Park, 100 NW Eighth Ave.

Gulfstream offers free summer music series

The Village at Gulfstream Park invites music lovers to Music in the Park. The free outdoor summer music series hosts concerts each Wednesday and Saturday through the end of August.

Enjoy styles like blues, classic rock, country and Latin in Champions Plaza. Additionally, several restaurants are offering happy hour specials during each concert.

Music in the Park is free to the public. The Village at Gulfstream Park is at 501 S. Federal Highway in Hallandale Beach.

Local children can get free immunizations

For several dates in August, families are invited to bring children to a free back-to-school immunization clinic at Lauderhill Mall.

The Florida Department of Health in Broward County is offering free immunizations for children up to age 18. The free immunizations will be offered Aug. 2-6, 8, 11-13, 15 and 18-19 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Immunizations will be given from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 7 and 14.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Families should also remember to bring immunization records.

Lauderhill Mall is at 1299E NW 40th Ave. For more information, call 954-467-4705.
