The YMCA of Broward County – Greater Hollywood YMCA Family Center has announced a water safety program for children. The first 100 people to register will receive lessons free of charge.

The classes will introduce and reinforce water safety and is geared toward children ages 5 through 12. The 30-minute sessions will be held Saturdays from Feb. 28 to May 2. Participants can select times from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

“We strongly believe that we can really impact and reduce drowning deaths through water safety programs,” said April Norris, executive director at the Greater Hollywood YMCA. "We need to get to the children before they get to the water. This is such a critical issue we are willing to provide free water safety and parent education so that money is not an issue.”

For more information, call 954-989-9622 or stop by the Greater Hollywood YMCA Family Center at 3161 Taft St.
