Teams of Hollywood officials and employees, schools and residents participated in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in the ArtsPark at Young Circle.
The event was held from 6 p.m. Friday through noon Saturday.
“Young Artists, Creative Minds” will be on display at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood April 2-30. The exhibit features the works of fifth- to eighth-graders from the Hollywood Academy of Arts and Science.
The reception will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. April 2. It's free and open to the public. The center is at 1650 Harrison St.
Voulunteers needed for Thanksgiving in April in Hollywood
The Broward Outreach Center is looking for volunteers for their Thanksgiving in April event.
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 10, the center will address the immediate needs of the homeless by providing basic hygiene supplies, foot care and food.
The event aims to feed about 200 homeless and others in need.

Yesterday, Hollywood Mayor Peter Bober joined Broward Meals on Wheels as part of their March for Meals annual national campaign.
Their goal is to increase public awareness, recruit new volunteers, and increase funding for nutrition programs that are part of the Meals on Wheels Association of America network.

More than 50 artists are expected to participate in a three-hour timed art challenge from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 21 along Harrison Street west of Young Circle.
An awards presentation will be held at 7 p.m. at Comfort Zone Studio & Spa, 2028 Harrison St., followed by an 8 p.m. auction of all art created during the afternoon.
The event is free and will be held rain or shine, though there is a fee for participating artists.
Complimentary refreshments, including wine and hors d’oeuvres, will be served.

A traditional float parade featuring Grand Marshall City Commissioner Heidi O’Sheehan and the New York Police Department Emerald Society drew South Florida residents to participate in this year's St. Patrick's Day parade.

Applications for Broward County Public Schools Head Start and Early Head Start programs will be accepted Friday, March 20 through Wednesday, April 1 at six locations throughout Broward County, including Bethune Elementary, 2400 Meade St. in Hollywood.
Head Start offers a free full-day program focusing on literacy with a research-based curriculum for 3- and 4-year-old children, while the Early Head Start program provides services for pregnant women, infants and toddlers.
Services include dental, health, nutrition, mental health and family support.
There are income eligibility requirements, and families of children with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Ground was broken recently for Elementary School “C” in Hollywood.
The school is at 2230 Lincoln St., adjacent to Lincoln Park.
The project is a joint venture between the Broward County School Board and the city of Hollywood and will include re-landscaping and other improvements to Lincoln Park.

Broward County is providing residents an opportunity to recycle items at its South Residential Trash Transfer Station, 5601 W. Hallandale Beach Blvd. in West Park.
The items, which can include yard and wood waste, large appliances, sofas, chairs, mattresses and carpeting, must be brought in on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The city of Hollywood, Hibernians of Hollywood and the Downtown Community Redevelopment Agency are hosting a St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 15.
The parade starts at 1 p.m.; the route begins at Harrison Street and 21st Avenue, traveling north to Hollywood Boulevard, then east to Young Circle, south to Harrison Street and back to 21st Avenue.
Kids activities include face painting, balloon twisters and a bounce house. Festivities go from noon to 6 p.m.
