Community meeting in Hallandale

railroad.jpg

A community meeting for the South Florida East Coast Corridor is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Hallandale Beach Cultural Community Center, 410 SE Third St.

The Florida Department of Transportation is proposing passenger rail service along the Florida East Coast Railway Corridor. Train stations are proposed along the 85-mile section from Palm Beach to Miami-Dade, including stations in Hallandale Beach.

This is an opportunity for residents to speak with members of the study team about station locations, closing or improving railroad crossings and effects on the environment and community. There will also be an audio demonstration of the sounds of the five transit types being considered.

For more information, call 954- 457-1337.
