Veterans Day Salute set in Hallandale Beach

Hallandale Beach is having its Veterans Day Salute on Wednesday, Nov. 11, and is inviting everyone to come out and honor the men and women who have served in the armed forces. Program schedule includes: 9 a.m. -- Placement of flags at the Hallandale Beach Cemetery, 801 NW Sixth Ave. 10 a.m. -- Coffee at the Cultural Community Center, 401 SE Third St. 11 a.m. -- Ceremony at the Cultural Community Center and the Veterans Monument, 400 S. Benefit car wash a success in Hallandale

On Friday, a benefit car wash hosted by Vice Mayor William Julian raised more than $3,200 for Michael Brewer. Brewer is the teenager who was attacked and burned in Deerfield Beach by fellow students. The Kiwanis Club, several city departments and the Hallandale High Academy Ambassadors also helped wash cars.

In celebration of its 25th anniversary, BJ’s Wholesale Club is challenging Hollywood and surrounding area residents to help collect 25 tons of groceries to feed local families in need. BJ’s Charitable Foundation will donate the financial equivalent of one million meals that will be distributed among Feeding America’s Food Bank network partners, which include the Daily Bread Food Bank. Through seminars, exhibits and interactive activities for children and adults, attendees will learn how to live a more environmentally friendly lifestyle without much effort. More than 100 exhibitors will be on-site giving product demonstrations and showcasing real solutions to living greener every day.
