The American Woman’s Society of Certified Public Accountants recently had a networking event at Vino Wine Bar in Hollywood. Their “Pearls of Wisdom” event offered advice on women’s personal and financial challenges and raised $1,000 for the Florida Breast Cancer Research Foundation. More than 40 professional women were in attendance.

Broward County, in partnership with the city of Hollywood, is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste and Electronics Recycling Drop-Off-Event next month. Items will be collected from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Anne Kolb Nature Center, 751 Sheridan St. Broward residents may drop off household hazardous waste and electronics for free, such as paint, motor oil, pesticides, cell phones, household cleaners, lawn and pool chemicals, mercury thermometers, televisions, computers, monitors, CFL bulbs, auto batteries, and more. Benefit car wash a success in Hallandale

On Friday, a benefit car wash hosted by Vice Mayor William Julian raised more than $3,200 for Michael Brewer. Brewer is the teenager who was attacked and burned in Deerfield Beach by fellow students. The Kiwanis Club, several city departments and the Hallandale High Academy Ambassadors also helped wash cars.
