Zen Buddhist group practices meditation at Pines training center

The new year's responsibilities can be demanding and harsh, which is why the Broward Lotus Sangha is offering a remedy: two hours of free, soul-calming meditation.

The service, which follows the "mindfulness meditation practice" of Zen Master Thich Nhẫt Hanh, according to the group's Web site, features sitting and walking mediation, dharma talk, discussion, joyful singing and chanting.

After the meeting adjourns, group members can snack on healthy teas, finger foods and snacks.

The Zen Buddhist group meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. the first and third Sunday of every month beginning Jan. 4 at Po Chi Lam Training Center, 7504 Pembroke Road.
