Police to enforce DUI checkpoint Friday night

Pines residents planning to knock back a few this Friday night and drive afterward should think twice.

Pembroke Pines Police Department is installing a DUI Saturation and sobriety checkpoint in the 7400 block of Pembroke Road from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Feb. 27.

Those choosing to get drunk should make arrangements to get home safely, including using a designated driver, public transportation or a taxi, said police public information officer Michael Pazienza.

Police will enforce the measure to ensure safer roadways and to stop intoxicated drivers from injuring other on the streets, Pazienza said.
