Charter student gets Silver Knight scholarship

A Pembroke Pines Charter School student is one gleaming medallion richer thanks to a recent awards ceremony.

Renata Dinamarco of Pembroke Pines pocketed a 2009 Silver Knight Award in the Science category last month during a ceremony at James L. Knight Center in Miami.

To be eligible for the award, which included the medallion plus a cash award, winners had to demonstrate excellence in academics and contributions to the community.

Other Honorable Mention winners from Pembroke Pines include Christina Maria Andres from Flanagan High School in the Business category, Luis Arias from Flanagan High in the Foreign Language category and Matthew Noto from Pines Charter High in the Social Science category. Runners-up received engraved plaques and cash awards.
