Ice arena to stage back-to-school ice skating party

One Pembroke Pines venue aims to cool down South Florida’s back-to-school madness.

The Pines Ice Arena, 12425 Taft St., is throwing a chilly Ice Skating Party from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 20 designed to skate a figure-eight around school prep hassles Broward County students face before classes resume next Monday.

The fête combines an ice rink skate-a-thon with plenty of face paining, caricature drawing, stilt walking and food sampling activities for children, 5 and older.

The back-to-school frosty fest also features free three-week “Learn to Skate” classes courtesy of the arena, plus gift basket and other prize drawings.
