Pines charter kids learn conservation with costumed superhero

He might not be donning a cape and blue spandex, but one environmentally-conscious superhero plans to grace Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary East campus on Oct. 9.

Costumed Florida Power and Light spokesman Captain Conservation is swooping into classrooms at 10801 Pembroke Road for a school assembly designed to teach kids about energy conservation.

CC’s 45-minute presentation from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 9 tackles ideas to promote energy conservation by doing tasks around home and school. The superhero, named Robert Collins under the mask, will also sing, play guitar and challenge students to recognize and become involved in the fight of conservation.
