Plans move forward for Dog Park

Having already approved the location and funding of the dog park, Pompano Beach Commissioners still needed to amend the capital improvement plan in order for the city to move forward with the park.

City Commissioners adopted Oct. 28 a resolution that amended the capital improvement plan for the fiscal years 2009 through 2013. The cost to establish the park is $56,738, which includes purchasing fencing, benches, signage, trash receptacles, a water fountain and a dog waste clean-up station.

“It’s finally on its way,” said Commissioner Rex Hardin.

Once the equipment is purchased and the fencing is installed, construction is expected to begin in December.

Located in the Northwest corner of Northeast 10th Street and Federal Highway, the 1.9-acre facility will be separated into two areas for bigger and smaller dogs and will be free for all people.
