Be wary of a 'Recycling Letter'

The Broward County Permitting, Licensing and Consumer Protection Division is warning residents to be aware of a letter they may have received in the mail from the National Department of Renewable Resources.

The letter states that the state of Florida has passed a law that allows fines to be levied against homeowners who fail to follow the mandatory recycling policies and that the department is authorized to “seek compensatory damages for recycling shortfalls.”

Residents are advised to disregard the letter, as it is either a hoax or a scam.
