Pompano Beach to implement ‘free’ chlorination

In an effort to improve the water supply, the Pompano Beach Utilities Department will begin free chlorine dosing of its entire water distribution system beginning Aug 3.

The chlorination process lasts for four weeks until Aug. 31, and is performed in compliance with all Florida Department of Environmental Protection and Broward County Health Department regulations maintenance practice that occurs semi-annually.

Residents may experience a different taste and smell of the water, but it will remain safe to drink, bathe and cook with. Also, the water may appear discolored, but it is only temporary and residents should let their faucets run until the water clears up.

For more information, contact the Customer Service Department at 954-786-4637.
