Pompano Beach to rename street after longtime community activist

Dennis Myers, a well-known Pompano Beach community activist who died in September 2008, will be honored by the community of Cresthaven and Pompano Beach by having a street named after him.

The City Commission passed a resolution a few months ago to change Northeast 33rd Street between Federal Highway and Northeast Third Avenue to Dennis Myers Street for his tireless work in the community.

The street renaming dedication will take place on Saturday, July 25 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church Social Hall, 3331 NE 10th Terrace. For more information, call 954-786-7536.

I personally had an opportunity to interview Myers more than a year ago and found him to be a very nice man who truly cared about his community.
