City to host free health and wellness fair

To help raise awareness on preventable health problems and to encourage residents to get a medical checkup, Pompano Beach is hosting the annual Employee and Community Health and Financial Wellness Fair Aug. 12 and 13.

More than 60 organizations and nonprofit groups will be on-hand to provide valuable medical information and ways to treat health problems. Hospitals and health insurance experts will attend to answer questions and provide free blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes checks.

The event is free and open to the public. Each fair will last from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Emma Lou Olson Civic Center, 1801 NE Sixth St. For more information, call 954-786-4626.
