Local students named semifinalists for special scholarships

Pompano Beach High School seniors Yvanna Harris and Ravelle T. Nunes along with Blanche Ely High senior Schneider Rancy were among 23 high school seniors in Broward County to be named semifinalists for National Achievement Scholarship Awards, which is presented by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

The three were also part of 1,600 Black American high school seniors that were named semifinalists for the 46th National Achievement Scholarship Program. The program is expected to award about 800 students around the country with more than $2.6 million in scholarships.
