Pompano Beach to host Thanksgiving Day triathlon

For the second time this year and for the first time on Thanksgiving, the Pompano Beach Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting a triathlon.

The running, biking and swimming event will start at 7 a.m. Nov. 26 at the Pompano Beach Aquatic Center, 820 NE 18th Ave. The running portion will last 4.4 miles, which is one lap around the Pompano Airpark path, while the bike portion will be 8.8 miles. The swimming segment will be 600 meters in the city’s Olympic size pool.

Participants must preregister at the Pompano Aquatic Center by Nov. 25. Registration is $40 or $30 for participants who register by Nov. 10. Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult during the event. Awards will be given to the top three men and women finishers. For more information, call 954-786-4128.
