Colonial Bank raises $68,000 for child support organization

The South Florida branch of Colonial Bank recently raised more than $68,000 for Kids In Distress during the sixth annual Taking Steps 5K Run/Walk.

For the third straight year, Colonial Bank South Florida region top the list of contributors. Colonial Bank offices in the Palm Beach and Treasure Coast area alone raised more than $11,000.

In total, the event raised more than $135,000 for Kids In Distress, which the organization will use to treat abused and neglected children through a full continuum of care that includes therapeutic interventions, shelter care, abuse prevention, foster care and adoption services.

The marathon was part of the activities Kids In Distress organized during Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.
