Teens learn babysitter skills, receive certification at workshop

Babysitting is probably one of the most common things teens do to earn some cash. But not every teen is prepared to deal with an emergency,

The Red Cross offers a day-long babysitter training program to help children, ages 11 to 15, develop the babysitting skills they need in areas such as basic care, safety and first aid.

The next workshop will take place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 11, at Sunrise Civic Center Theatre, 10610 W. Oakland Park Blvd.

The program costs $57 and does not include lunch (participants are encouraged to bring their own).

Call 954-747-4600 to register.
