City donates hundreds of shoes to charity

The city of Sunrise recently donated several hundred shoes to help disadvantaged adults and youth.

Mayor Roger Wishner recently signed the resolution to authorize the donation of the shoes to the Kiwanis Club of Lauderdale Lakes Foundation.

The Kiwanis Club will distribute the shoes to disadvantaged adults and youth during the club’s Christmas in July event, a mid-year variation of the traditional holiday that usually comes with with a summer twist such as serving ice cream.

The Kiwanis is an international service leadership organization dedicated to helping children from the pre-natal stage to age 5. For more information, or to join, visit www.kiwanis.org.
